Whanau Haua Aspirations for the Future HuiTe Roopu Waiora wants to thank all those who attended the hui at Nga Kete Wananga Marae at MIT on Friday 8 May. Because of the bad weather we didn’t expect many to come. So it was great that over 50 whanau haua and support people attended to discuss: Influenza A (Swine Flu) Initiatives led by whanau with disabilities Pae Huarahi – understanding the disability sector and whanau evaluating service quality Marae Project – aspects of a marae designed entirely by whanau haua Project Karere – technology to improve whanau access Thank you Hapai Te Hauora for your presentation on Influenza A. We look forward to working with you so that public health information is more accessible for Maori disability communities. Te Wanaanga o Aotearoa students - your support throughout the hui was invaluable. We hope we have created a meaningful, learning environment to further your studies and benefit our communities. Our interpreters and supporters, kaumatua and kuia were again, awesome. We are honoured to have your tautoko and commitment. Lastly thank you whanau. Your continued leadership and trust in our work is the most important aspect of Te Roopu Waiora and every member of our team appreciates being able to learn with you. Following on from our hui:A whanau roopu be established for Maori with brain injury. We will plan a meeting soon with those interested to explore this further
Information be provided about the Auckland Super city and Maori representation. Further advice regarding the Protest Hikoi on 25 May will be made available as soon as possible.
Your feedback tells us it was a successful hui. There have been several requests for copies of our power-point presentations and we aim to have these on our website soon.
